amudo is home
What is Amudo?
Amudo means nobody. It’s the space between being seen and unseen, where masks, alter-egos, and symbols live. To me, Amudo is not emptiness, but a place where the forgotten, the broken, and the misunderstood can exist without judgment. It’s a word that becomes a shelter, a home for my characters, for fragments of myself, for feelings that don’t have another in my own home. In my work, Amudo is both personal and universal: it’s me, but it’s also anyone who has ever felt like they don’t belong. Welcome home
WHO AM I ?
Jivon "amudo" is a Latin-Korean-American artist from a small town in the middle of nowhere who brings his own brand of humor to his work. Through a cynical yet playful lens, he dives into the themes of isolation, identity, and existentialism His art balances the surreal with a touch of dark humor. Proving that even in the bleakest moments, there’s always something worth smiling about. Blending raw emotion with a surreal, Jivon crafts a world that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My work mainly focuses on the changing of perspectives that are typical with artwork that focuses on perfection. With many artworks delicacy and perfection is paramount for the artist to present to their audience. The artwork that I create is not perfect but shattered like broken glass on a mirror. However, within the broken mirror shards, I present the raw emotion to my audience giving them a glimpse of who I am as an artist and into my mind. When looking at my artwork, it’s jagged and torn with a layer of comedy draped around the edges. With my work, I balance on the themes of the trivial and the cynical while also exploring themes of dissociation of one's own surroundings. Many of the figures in my works never present their true faces, often covered by masks. This element reflects the element of self identity and detachment of the self which affect my own perception on a daily basis. As for the subject matter of my pieces, I am often influenced by the music I listen to which provides the ink to my pen as I create my artworks. The mediums that I partake in are often diverse such as creating dioramas that create a scene within my consciousness that I can present to my audience. I also focus on digital medium as well which mixes photography and drawings into a collage. As I layer paper into my craft and design through digital means, I begin to learn more about who I am as a person. With these explorations through these themes and mediums I am able to express my true emotions without speaking a single word.
