Reflection: Otobong Nkanga
From watching this video, Otobong Nkanga provides a compelling narrative about landscapes and how they should be seen as bodies. This perspective highlights an interesting feature within her art by mixing themes of the self and with the environment which then creates a highly personal artwork that she creates. A very significant lesson that Otobog Nkanga proclaims in this video is how an artwork can connect a person by using specific sights and smells. By doing this, it doesn't just connect to the artist but their audience as well. With this knowledge, I hope to use sights and even smells that can create a more interactive space for my audience. Overall, this video provides an important example of how artists can use their senses to take the audience into their artwork.
