Small Group Discussion - Project:1

The initial feedback from the small group discussion was very positive and useful for what I planned. Two points of interest in my discussion were to play more into the Wild West, specifically on the “Spaghetti western” aesthetic for my subject matter, and most importantly that I should create whatever I enjoy doing rather than what the class wants. This last comment stood out to me because I was struggling with creating another project that focused on making a diorama and it was refreshing to be told by my peers that I can create whatever I want. What I plan to apply for his feedback is to focus more on the spaghetti western cliches and how they apply to the theme that I want to present with this work. This discussion was generous on what I should create and it will most likely involve a rework of my mind map. This discussion helped me focus on what I should assemble instead of what others want me to make. This has changed my thinking immensely and this will help me feel more connected with my work rather than the previous projects given to me in the last couple of semesters. I usually handle any criticism pretty well and it provides a structure of what I can do next. Emotionally after the discussion, I was very positive about the feedback that was given to me and it gave me a great direction of where to go next with my work. What I have learned from my peers is that everyone has a different idea that they want to present in their work and to be able to know if their idea is doable. Everyone’s creative approaches vary with everyone with many of the people in my group focusing on painting and constructing 3D environments which was very thought-provoking due to myself having a lot of experience with both of these mediums.
Below I provided a sketch of the idea of my project so far.
